I really like the Hourglass Veil and No28 primers (depending on the time of year - Veil is matte and No28 is moisturizing) but the full size ones are pretty expensive.
Primer might not be strictly necessary - you could always try without it and then get some later if you feel like it would help. It might not be matte enough if you have super oily skin, but I did ok with it.
